Post 174- American Legion

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.

Locally, the membership of Anthony Wayne Post 174 are involved in a number of charitable endeavours, including the Children’s Organ Transplant Association, Marine Corps Toys for Tots and other Veterans outreach programs.

Unit 174 - American Legion Auxiliary

In the spirit of Service, Not Self, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support The American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security.

Locally, the members of Unit 174 help with the various operations of the Post, combining with our peers to help raise money for Veterans programs and other charitable endeavours.

Squadron 174 - Sons of the American Legion

Founded in 1932, the Sons of The American Legion exists to honor the service and sacrifice of Legionnaires.  S.A.L. members include males of all ages whose parents or grandparents served in the U.S. military and were eligible for American Legion membership.

Locally, the members of Squadron 174 help to raise funds for Veterans endevaors, run the annual 174 Christmas Tree Sale and Pig Roast, Healing4Heroes and more.

Chapter 174 - American Legion Riders

American Legion Riders chapters are well known for their charitable work, which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local children’s hospitals, schools, veterans homes, severely wounded servicemembers and scholarships.   Membership in the Riders is open to any Legionnaire, Auxiliary or Son who owns a motorcycle with proper licensing and insurance.

Locally, Chapter 174 is known for raising money for the Childrens Organ Transplant Association, and raising monies for various charities during their annual ALR Tri-State Summer Tour, Bike Nights and more.
